Juli Morgan, Worship Ministry Developer (e-mail)
I was born into a very musical family in Cape Town South Africa. My grandfather, Mordaunt Andrew-Cohen was a jazz pianist. Both of my Aunts are classically trained pianists. My Father, John Gort, was always active in musical theater. My mother, Sandy Kressner, plays penny whistle, bass, and percussion and was active in bluegrass and Celtic bands while I was growing up. She now plays percussion in her praise and worship team. I have great memories of ‘pickin parties’ in our home where there was music coming out of every room of the house.
I found Jesus when I was 13 at Black Forest Youth Camp in Colorado.
I picked up a guitar for the first time when I was 16 years old. I was hooked and there has never been a time in my life that I’ve given it up or put it away.
I started playing in bands and writing songs at 17 and joined a band with Jeff, my husband, when I moved to Tacoma in 1991. We called ourselves Destiny, the Christian instrumental alternative. I joined the Praise and Worship team at Champions Centre in 2002. My husband and I became members of Discovery Community Church in 2007. We joined the Worship team shortly after. I became the Worship Developer in 2009. I have been married to Jeff since 1993 and we have 2 daughters, Ave (7) and Annabelle (1). I have a passion to lead people into the presence of God. My goal is to be transparent and authentic in the process.
